F. Scott Fitzgerald was an american author with several breathtaking novels and short stories. Among his most well known pieces of literature is The Great Gatsby which is a about a rich man who is in love with a married woman. â€Å"Winter Dreams† is also another piece of literature that Fitzgerald wrote. â€Å"Winter Dreams† is about a mans dream of becoming wealthy and dream of marrying the woman he loves. These two pieces of literature are very similar in various aspects that are noticeable as the reader compares the two. The constant mention of the desire of love and the desire for luxury demonstrates that these two things are not always the key to a happy life. Gatsby returned from war only to find out that the woman he loved was married. Gatsby realizes that his love dream with Daisy is only an illusion. Eventually Gatsby is killed because he took the blame for Daisy for the murder of a woman. Dexter as well as Gatsby had tragic love dreams. The only difference was that Dexter moved on with his life while Gatsby was tragically murdered. Dexter and Gatsby both had a dream of love but ended up with an unhappy ending. The women that the main characters were in love with, also had similarities and differences. Judy from â€Å"Winter Dreams† was a woman in search for wealth. Judy would get with any man who had money. That’s why she started a relationship with Dexter, but she quickly realized that he was not as wealthy as she wanted him to be. She would eventually leave him and Dexter was left heartbroken. Daisy from The Great Gatsby also married because she wanted money. Daisy also left Gatsby heartbroken. Daisy did not only marry because of the mans wealth unlike Judy. At the end of the day Daisy actually loved her husband and that’s why she left Ga tsby. Judy as well as Daisy were women looking for luxury but were not very happy as well and left people heartbroken. In conclusion the desire for love and the desire for wealth is not always the key to happiness.
